So where did...

the title 'Backordered Baby' come from anyway? :)

When I was feeling particularly down one day, and starting to lose hope, H made a comment the really helped to cheer me up.

He said something about how everyone else got pregnant very quickly because they were getting just the standard model baby and there were plenty of those available. We, on the other hand, were on the list for the extra-special-nearly-perfect baby and since they took so much longer to make there was a bit of a backorder.

Sheesh, I love that man!!

Sleepover fun

Had the nieces and one nephew over for an end of school sleepover last night. We swam, BBQ'd then roasted marshmallows for smores. Yummy!

Uncle put up the tent in the backyard and we watched Bedknobs and Broomsticks on the laptop as the kids fell asleep.
It was a very fun night! Still on the 'every-three-hours-around-the-clock' pee schedule (which, coincidentally is the same schedule as my five year old niece!) was very happy to wake up queasey. Just sitting here now waiting for it to pass so I can make my famous homemade buttermilk pancakes. Good times!

oxymoron?

Not sure if that is exactly the word I want, but its interesting to me that I'm SO excited to feel so crummy!
A little over 5 days until our appointment. All the paperwork from the Dr's office came today and it made the financial aspect a little more real. It will work out, things always do... :)
The kids came over and we really broke in the pool today. The water is *freezing* cold still, but it does feel good. They had lots of fun and we are planning a slumber party for tomorrow night (sleeping in a tent in the back yard and roasting marshmallows! yum!)
I'm really starting to notice some morning sickness. For the most part it hasn't been too bad, but there were a couple of close calls today! It actually helps a ton, because if I'm still having strong symptoms that means things are still progressing. Really hoping we can see a heartbeat on the ultrasound next week... It's right on the borderline, but I'm praying we can.
Not much else going on today, I'm going to try and get some sleep before the midnight urge to pee hits!
Love you all...

:)

Today was an amazing day! H totally indulged me in my wild whim and we took the top off of the Jeep and drove down to the Thanksgiving Point gardens. It was a perfect day for it! Warm, but with a nice breeze, we got some great pictures and really enjoyed ourselves.

At one point H turned to me and mentioned that this was our first official outing as a family (and not just a couple) totally made me cry. Darn hormones!

Speaking of which- here is an update for this week. I'll try to post this every week.

Week 5- your embryo is about the size of an apple seed and is starting to form major organs (heart, kidney, liver, stomach) and systems (nervous, circulatory, digestive).

After the gardens we went and had really good 'bad chinese' food. (Chin Wah's almond chicken with gravy) Mmmmm! I'm really liking chicken this week! Afterwards we had a little time to kill in order to avoid sitting in traffic so we went across the street and peeked in Kid to Kid then wandered around in this huge toy store in Sandy. I can tell you right now that this will be one very spoiled baby! :)

All in all it was one of the best days I can remember!

Love you baby and our marshmallow too!

Never thought...

I'd be sooo happy to be sick to my stomach! Every twinge, ache and grumble just reassures me that something is still happening.
Really wishing I could get some sleep though! I'm completely exhausted, but can't seem to fall asleep until the wee hours of the morning... I guess its just good prep for whats to come!

Today...

There is a saying that is common on the infertility and miscarriage boards that I have been a part of for several years now.

Today I am pregnant, and I love my baby.

So many of the women that I have had the pleasure of knowing through these virtual worlds have gone through the heartache of trying so hard to conceive a child only to lose that child in the weeks or months to follow. After your loss it is so very hard to relax and feel a sense of security once you do get that elusive positive pg test. Hence, the need for constant reassurance that they are indeed pregnant and that regardless of the outcome it is alright to allow yourself to love the little being growing inside of you.

So it is with an extreme mixture of feelings and emotions that I say...

Today I am pregnant, and I love my baby!

All weekend I had strange little symptoms... a tummy that kept feeling slightly off, exhaustion from minimal activity, crazy mood swings (happy, emotional, happy, cranky happy, tired... oh look something shiney!) This is not too unusual, and H & I often joke about the 'darn phantom baby' who keeps messing with me. This month H kept saying it wasn't a phantom, this month was a real one... He even joked that I would start craving lemons and seafood soon since those are his two favorite foods.

Having gone through this many, many times before I've learned some self preservation techniques to try an keep my sanity. Most important was to convince myself that I wasn't pg, so after each test I could say 'I knew I wasn't all along' and in some way lessen the disappointment. Well, this morning I decided to test so I could get the negative result and get on with my week. I *knew* it would be negative after all, so it was just a formality to see the glaring single line on the test.

Ummm... wait.... uhhhhh... there's two lines here! Two very dark, immediate lines! Holy cow!

There's two lines here!! There's TWO lines.

So I spent a moment crying (darn hormones!) Looked at the test a dozen or so more times just to make sure it was still positive. Said it outloud a couple times, just to make sure I was awake. Cried again for a minute.Looked at the test again. Jumped up and ran to call my Dr. and get an appointment. (June 3rd @ 10:40 am) Sat down really fast when my head started spinning. Looked at the test again. Got my camera and took multiple pictures of the test. Cursed the fact the H wouldn't be home for several hours still. Looked at the test again (yep, still positive)! Considered calling H and telling him over the phone. Considered calling H and asking him to come home. Considered the fact that I was maybe, perhaps acting a little crazy and decided to let my sweet hubby actually do his job. Then did what any grown woman with a huge secret would do. I called my mommy!

Let me tell you it was the longest six hours until my love got home and I could finally share the news! At this point our hope is to wait until after our appointment in a week before we share the news with people. As of today I am exactly five weeks, the appointment will be 6 wks 1 day, so while it will still be too early to hear a heartbeat I hope to be able to get some tests run and figure out exactly how they plan on keeping this little one cooking inside of me.

6 weeks is probably still too early to really share the news but-
A. I know me. I'm *really* impatient. Howard is better, but not a ton!

B. I have a strong belief in the power of prayer and positivity. While our very diverse group of friends may all have different names for their choice of higher power (Heavenly Father, God, Allah, Odin among others) we will need all of your prayers and happy thoughts right now!

C. If, God forbid, something bad happens we're going to need all the support we can get.

Today I am pregnant, and I love my baby! (and yes, I'm still checking the test every few minutes!)
