Week 7

Baby's brain- both hemispheres!- is growing fast, generating about 100 new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form, and a permanent set of kidneys (baby's third!) is now in place.

Relaxing...

Seeing a heartbeat yesterday (and rewatching the video several times last night!) has done so much to help me relax and I think my body knows it.
Woke up super sick to my stomach and very early. You all *know* I'm so not a morning person! It's like my body is saying- ok, we're done spending energy on stressing, now we can use the energy for something like... morning sickness! Yay!
Crazy how much being sick helps though- strong symptoms means that if nothing else, at least my body is maintaining this pg...
Now only 7 1/2 more months to worry! :)

Time flies...

The wait for the second u/s seems to be going so much faster than the first! Today is already Friday, we will be in Provo all weekend and then the appointment on Monday...

It has helped that it's been a busy couple days since Wed. We got a remint of the Honu coins in on wed., offer half up to newsletter subscribers Thurs (sold out in an hour) offered the other half to the general public today and sold all but 3 in 25 minutes. Now if only all of our designs would do so well!

Yesterday was my first actual barf. Been queasy for weeks, but yesterday was the first time I lost it. And yes, it *is* twisted how happy that made me!

Hope you all have a great weekend and please keep us in your prayers. :)

1st appointment Wed,

Overall it went well, just not as well as I wanted it to!

The average woman has about a 28 day cycle and ovulates halfway through it. Since most sane women do not know when they ovulate, pregnancy is based off of the first day of your last period. This means that for the 'average' woman you are considered two weeks pregnant before you even conceive! However, for women (like me) who either ovulate later or it takes longer for the embryo to implant, basing the pregnancy off of your last period is highly inaccuarate.

At todays appointment I measured 5 w 2 d (not 6 w 1 d). This was not a surprise. I chart religously and can tell you information about my cycle that even most OB's don't know about themselves! So going into it we knew that I likely was not as far along as they thought I should be. (side note- it is *frightening* to me how little some medical 'professionals' know about the reproductive cycle. Just sayin. When I set up the appt. the nurse was arguing with me about my EDD, I tried to explain that it was only accurate if I ovulate on day 14, which I don't. She basicly told me it didn't matter when I ovulated my EDD would be the same. Ummm, Nope!)

So tangents and biology lessons aside, the appointment went as well as it could for how early I am. The Dr. did an ultrasound and showed us our little yolk sac. He was very proactive in putting me on several meds to try to maintain the pregnancy and will do another u/s on Monday. Hopefully by then we will be able to see a heartbeat! He said that everything he can see at this point looks good. The embry was measuring well and looked to have implanted well.

Rationally I know that getting on these meds earlier is for the best, and everyday on them will increase our chances for a healthy baby. Emotionally it was a tough appointment! I've been at *this* stage several times before and had it not end well. Its just hard to be stuck here in limbo for another week!

Please keep us in your prayers that Monday's appointment goes well. We can use all of the positive thoughts we can get right now!

Best Birthday Present Ever!

My beautiful wife gave me her password so I could add to this blog. I should have posted a week ago, but I'm a bit of a procrastinator. Anyways....

Last Tuesday I come home from work and my wife tells me my birthday present arrived today. She wasn't expecting it because it was on back order, but it arrived today! And there on the table a very neatly wrapped present.

I tell her its not my birthday yet. "Don't you want me to wait until my actual b-day to open it?"

"Heck no, I'm not that patient" she explains.

Niether of us can keep surprises from each other for very long. Case in point - A couple years ago I had planned on asking Kimi to marry me on our vacation in Hawaii (something romantic, while walking on the beach) But instead I took her to see christmas lights and asked her the day the ring showed up in the mail, dec. 6th. not much for waiting. Ok... back to the story.

So I look at this present, my first thought is its a photo book. Much like the one I got her for our 1st anniversary. Those who have been to our house I'm sure have seen it cause she is always going on about "the cute book my hubby got for me". I open up the package, nope not a book, its a photo frame that says "Loved from the start".

"Hey whats this in the frame?" it looks like a pregnancy test!

"Are you PREGNANT!!!" I say with a big cheesy grin across my face.

"YEP!!!!!! We're gonna have a baby!"

BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER!

Week 6

Today is the start of week 6!
This week the sweet pea sized baby is growing like crazy and is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks and a chin. The little hands and feet, still webbed like paddles, should start wiggling by the end of the week. Baby's heart has started beating (its beating about twice as fast as ours) and blood is starting to circulate! Tomorrow is our first Doctor appointment and while we will definately not be out of the woods, a good visit tomorrow will really help me to relax a little.
Keep us in your prayers!
